Sifu Lamar Davis Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Scam, Fraud or Real

When it comes to the art of Bruce Lee you just dont know where to begin sometimes. Most start with google and go from there checking up on the top ten instructors. One was the "Hardcore Jeet Kune Do" guy Lamar Davis. He boast a bunch of claims so I wanted to see if he could back all that talk up. First I found and endless amount of forum posts from this guy. That is almost always a bad sign, as those who do this are known as keyboard nijas, and those who just go online bashing are known as Trolls.

I took my questions on Sifu Lamar Davis to his fellow Jeet Kune Do Instructors to see what they thought of him and if he possessed any skills that would be worth me parting with my hard earned money. Most said they never heard of him. The Bustillo group said run away from him, as did many of the Inosanto camp. So I wondered why all the bad reviews on youtube for his videos and all the negative comments on the man from his fellow teachers.

Well here in a nutshell is what they said. The "Jeet Kune Do" that Lamar teaches are moves that Bruce Lee abandoned as ineffective in combat. One of them even said "Lamar like to brag to those students coming from other JKD teachers that "I bet you have never seen this Jeet Kune Do move before from your teacher have you. Trying to make himself look all knowledgeable when in fact the students former teacher did not teach it because it was outdated and ineffective as Lee found and removed it from Jeet Kune Do.

One of the worst things I found was how he continued the JKD tradition of bad mouthing other teachers, and creating hostility instead of working to promote Jeet Kune Do instead of himself and his apparent huge ego.

Looks like I will keep looking for a good teacher. At least this search has put me in the right direction as the people I talked to had some good recommendations.

OK after I posted this got all sorts of email from those telling me who he is certified by. Thanks for the input. He apparently is certified apprentice under Gearald Dill and another one of his teachers sent in a pic of his rank certificate here:

  1. He's actually been certified by Jerry Poteet and Steve Golden as well (as far as I can tell).

There is a lot of backbiting in JKD. As you say, Lamar was bad mouthing others. By your own words, Other instructors were bad mouthing him.

My best advice? If you are interested in somebody as an instructor, check to make sure they have SOME lineage and skill, then actually attend a class or two. Most will let you sit in on a few before signing up. Then, make your own determination if it is for you or not.

  5. What a RIDICULOUS post!

There is no, other, JKD instructor, alive, who holds as many 1st Generation Certifications as Sifu Lamar M Davis, II. His lineage is very clear, unless, of course, one is suffering from, some form of, Mental Handicap.

Due to the, overwhelming, amount of ignorance presented, it's difficult to gauge your TRUE objective, with such a blog post.

If you were attempting to destroy your own, personal, credibility, I'd say you have succeeded. Congratulations.

If you are, simply, an, ignorant, victim of manipulation by one of the Frauds you portend to support here, then I hope you received, sufficient, compensation.

  6. OK ... After reading your drivel, again, I came to some questions .. primarily, "HOW did Davis learn "Techniques later abandoned by Lee"? Do you purport that Davis possesses some form of Time Travel ability, and he learned these techniques BEFORE Lee abandoned them (but, for some reason, still taught them) to his 1st Generation Students? If he does, I would think that he would use that ability more lucratively ... y'know, like play the stock market or bet on the ponies. To me, teaching JKD, just seems like a waste, for a dude that can bend the very fabric of Space and Time.

Please pardon my question ... I'm just trying to understand how/if your mind functions.

  7. Nice one Mr. Keith! I'll see you at the Awesome Lamar Davis Seminar on August 20th! Yes it is worth me driving 3 hours to get there! He has a very fair fee as well! I'm not bragging about how far I drive, because at the recent summer training camp that was nothing short of amazing, there was a gentlemen there from south Florida! People literally come from all over the world to train with Sifu Lamar M. Davis II! And Keith you did not know that sifu could bend the Fabric of time? man... You and I got to talk and I need to educate you my friend!

  8. Mr Taggart,I too have checked out Lamar m davis as a JKD instructor and found him to be certified as an instructor of Jeet Kune Do by no less 5 "original" students of Bruce Lee !
Impressed with that lineage i proceeded to train with him and an instructor under him and their skill and teaching abillity were and still are beyond my expectations. I am quite sure that you know all this and that you are NOT the innocent, missinformed, person you purport to be, i believe that, for reasons known only to yourself, you are trying to besmirch the HARDEARNED good name and reputation belonging to Sifu Davis and that perhaps you have been rejected as a student by one of his instructors or something like that because of your immoral attitude and base character flaws !!! You WILL NOT succeed in your endevour as Sifu Davis is reknowned the world over for his Skill, Teaching ability, and the fact that he does NOT take on as students people with the quite obviously degenerate nature as your good self. If you had just one iota of common decency (which i doubt!) you would remove your totally untrue and libellous blog from the internet and or post an apology.

  10. You never can tell Mr. Keith, maybe his true name is just, "Wanker!" Oh my! sorry about that, I wish I did not type it... Ah well, can't take it back now... It sux to be a fraudulent jkd instructor, because Sifu Davis will probably expose you, as he probably did this Mr. Wank... hmm.. I mean Mr. Taggart fellow. The seminar will however be the stuff of legend, because sifu will teach us how he went back in time and found all of these deleted ineffective techniques, that will knock any man on their behind! Not so ineffective now are they? To be quite honest he does exactly what Bruce did, he is teaching everything from the 3 phases of JKD as he is certified by someone from each era! I'm sorry in my humble opinion... you can't beat that! Sifu Lamar M. Davis has told me in person that he has dedicated his life to teaching the true art of Jeet Kune Do! I am not alone in believing most in the JKD community believe this as well. I also believe Mr. Carl above when he says that this Mr. Douche... ahh.. hmm.. Taggart knows more then he is letting on and is just trying to defame our great sifu! Love to break it to him... It won't be easy! enough said, I'm out!

  11. Here is a direct link to photos of some of Sifu Davis' certificates. These are not all, but is MOST that pertain to Jeet Kune Do.

    http://www.hardcorejkd.com/pages/Certifications.html

The certificate that the Author has shown is a joke, and anyone with a computer and a printer can go to the website of "Stanley Wayne Cox" and print one of these off with any name you want on it! In fact, here is a direct link to the certificate if anyone "needs" a JKD certificate:

    http://coxjkd.com/certification.htm

Once again, this is a joke! I have checked, and Stanley Wayne Cox does not even really exist!

I attended Jeet Kune Do class this evening at Sifu Davis’ Hardcore Jeet Kune Do kwoon in Oneonta, Alabama. After class, I asked him what he thought about this “blog”. He said that to him, it appears to be someone’s desperate attempt at discrediting all of the work that he has done over the years to preserve Bruce Lee’s original teachings. He also stated that this is not the first time someone has done such a thing, and probably will not be the last … and, as usual, there is no further information available on the person making the statements!

  15. Watch Lamars videos. He is a fat, slow turd. Everyone with IQ > 70 can tell: this man's got nothing to do with the abilities of Bruce Lee. Compare him to Thomas Carruthers, and you know what I mean.

  16. I have trained with Lamar Davis and Tommy Carruthers. Both of these men are the real deal. If you think that Lamar is slow, you're fooling yourself. He goes slow in order for students to see clearly what he is doing. When he goes full speed, most would not be able to stop him. My IQ is just fine since I obtained a Masters degree when I was 24 years old. There is an old saying, "I don't have to be faster than Bruce Lee, I just need to be faster than you".
